On Tuesday, July 17th, 2018, Project Cornerstone joined Junior Achievement of San Diego’s summer camp career fair. At this event, students ranging from 6th to 8th grade were able to visit various booths set up throughout the Finance Park from local businesses and organizations.
The Project Cornerstone booth featured a concrete making activity, where campers measured out the different ingredients that make concrete, then poured them into molds to take home. Campers learned about the science of concrete and the many jobs available in the construction industry.
The Junior Achievement campers were thrilled with our activity and asked many important questions like: “What is the chemical formula for the reaction between concrete and water?”(called hydration), asked by a young camper. We were thrilled to answer all the camper’s questions and showcase just how fascinating concrete and construction can be!
